In today's chaotic world, companies often force you to choose between a hosted service or software. You may find the solution that provides the functionality you require, only to find that it is not delivered via the method that best meets your needs. That is not choice. That is your vendor telling you what they believe is better for you rather than you having the choice to decide for yourself.

At Averum, we believe in choice. You made the choice to implement a billing system. (Good choice, by the way!) Now you should have the choice of whether that billing system is provided as a hosted service or a software product. Your choice of billing software should not dictate its delivery method. More importantly, you should have the option to change your decision in the future if your needs change.

While we are big proponents of the hosted model, we realize that many companies prefer to own, control and manage their own software. As a software developer, we understand and respect this. We realize that some companies are not comfortable using a hosted service and that complete integration is much easier if the software is hosted in-house.

"Software Optional™" is Averum's motto which suggests that while we believe the hosted model offers a great deal of benefits to customers, we still believe in providing our customers with the choice of purchasing our software. You can even switch from hosted to software, or vice versa. The software model is not dead. It just finally has some compelling competition.

Unlike software companies which are now providing a hosted offering only in response to competition from ASPs, Averum Billing was designed from the beginning to be delivered as a hosted service or software. It is the same software architecture and code base for both. We did not simply ASP-enable our existing software. Nor did we design a watered-down hosted service that appeals only to smaller companies which cannot afford our software.
